Hi all,
Well my parents got back from Kusadasi yesterday morning, they stayed in Melissa Apartments, they were not mad about the apartments themselves, they said they were very basic and a bit run down, but the staff were great and the entertainment was great too. They had lovely food there also, they just think the whole place could do with a lick of paint. They had a one room apt and it was just that, the bed was a sofa bed and the kitchem area etc was in the same room so that iif one person woke early and got up the other person was awake also. The bed sheets etc were clean and the cleaners were in every day, they just said it didn't feel properly clean there. They had air con in the room but apparently it was mega hot there so there was not much relief from it! Anyway. just thought I'd stick this up as it's nice be able to find a recent review of accommodation if possible!!!

The Melissa Aparts may have been beautiful once but now are purely functional. Ditto the neighbourhood which is now a very, very built up working class suburb. None of the rooms have TV, Radio, ovens or Internet connections. Televisions were obviously once installed, but no more. On the plus side all rooms do come with air conditioning. The staff are adequate but continuously trying to persuade the mainly Irish clientele to part with their cash. They do this by trying to sell under the counter excursions places or urging guests to stay in the hotel for the nightly "entertainment". Having seen the hours they work and heard of the average pay scale I don't blame them. The one real exception would be the cleaning staff and the wonderful "pool/bell boy" (man) who were the only people I gladly tipped. I had asked the travel agent for "cheap and cheerful" but got "run down and riotous". The hotel catering left a whole lot to be desired as well (don't try the sausages, I don't think they're really sausages at all). For good home grub try some of the boozers on "Ladies Beach" or "Harry’s Bar" in Centrum. If you do get to Harry's say hello to Brian, their Brit ex-Pat in residence, a nice guy and a wealth of local knowledge. Other than the Hotel there is no local entertainment, but the Marino Seafront is great and "Bar Street" is a must see. If you require anything other than alcohol to float your boat bring it with you. Despite being able to buy great Turkish dope at home it's woefully unavailable in Kusadasi. If ever I go again I will have my stash concealed in my vacuum-packed sausages and bacon. Custom checks out are non-existent, coming home however it's another story. In closing, Melissa Aparts 5 out of 10, Kusadasi is pushy and if Turkey joins the EU the rest of us should leave !

QUOTE(Yelruf @ Sep 23 2006, 12:33 AM) Melissa Aparts 5 out of 10, Kusadasi is pushy and if Turkey joins the EU the rest of us should leave ! I can understand and respect your review, you are right at some points but your last sentence is not nice at all ! because you didnt like that hotel ( many people did ) you have no right to say if Turkey joins EU rest of should leave. dont like the country ? dont come then , go to Spain , Greece , Cuba if you think they have better hotels , better stuff or better eat . Not everybody has to like it but bringing this to about EU is sickness !

I'm pretty surprised at that last sentence, which seems tagged on for the sake of it. I'm assuming you have other things to say to back it up apart from not being impressed with the hotel? Maybe you should open another topic in the general forum and see what other people have to say, as that statement has really nothing to do with the topic subject and seems to be there to stir up contorversy.

Yelruf, You need to get a grip and have a little more respect!! Your on a forum where all (or the vast majority) love Turkey and the Turkish people. And we do so cos we have experenced more on our visits there than at any other holiday resort like spain etc!! Many of us here, who are not turkish have a lot of Turkish friends aswell, and are in regular contact.
Whatever your disappointment about your stay in Turkey obviously had to do with some personal issue or notion that manifested.
We and I say we, cos I believe that many on this forum would agree, would prefer if you would keep snotty little comments that are disresptful. If you dont like it, dont go. Yes, I understand that you are entitled to give your opinion, but those last 2 lines were more than harsh. Because you are making a generalized insult!! Which could be deemed somewhat racist.
Im sorry Sonny, but That comment really annoyed me!!!
